Stevens Institute of Technology Finds Their Contractor Solution

CLIENT: Stevens Institute of Technology
PROJECT: Gateway Academic Center (GAC) Day 2 Scope
COST: $195K
TIMEFRAME: 2 months
SERVICES PROVIDED: General Contractor

The Situation:

The Gateway Academic Center, a newly constructed 90,000 square foot complex comprised of two buildings and skybridge, is located on campus at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ. Day 2 design alterations needed to be completed before student and staff returned for the Fall 2020 Semester.

The Challenge:

The drop ceiling open design was not aesthetically pleasing to the Stevens team due to visible infrastructure above the ceiling. CLS Project Solutions, Inc. had to remove sections of installed ceiling and extend them to match the new architectural designs on all four floors of the South building and three floors of the North building. Possibly the most daunting task was the management of shop drawings, approvals, fabrication and installation of a custom routed solid maple graphic wall with historical artifact incasement at the building entrance all within the short window of time.

The Solution:

Logistical Planning and Detailed Project Management.

CLS Project Solutions, Inc. created and maintained a detailed logistics plan and an aggressive schedule to eliminate any possible delays in the project. CLS Project Solutions, Inc.’s ability to organize the project and keep all stakeholders, such as the branding, marketing, and construction teams, on the same page ensured an on-time completion.

The Result:

Quality finish.

Completed on time, the Gateway Academic Center was ready to receive students and staff for the Fall 2020 semester and a new relationship formed between CLS Project Solutions, Inc. and the Stevens Design and Construction Team.
